I have posted below a new release. A beautiful Specimen Black Pine 11" tall in 11" pot. This tree has a powerful 3" trunk.

Fall is fast approaching as I can see it in our maples. After an extremely hot July and August their leaves are starting to curl and dry up. The good news is that the Junipers and Pines loved the heat and are at their peak. It looks like our deciduous trees will be going dormant early this year as leaves are already starting to drop.

Old "Hitowigawa " Juinper Cascade Bonsai, 05jhit1

Old Hitowigawa Juinper Cascade Bonsai. Cascade style represents a tree growing on a mountainside leaning out towards the light. Its winter snow, or even avalanches and rock falls, contributes to the trunk growing downwards. Generally, the bonsai trunk line falls below the horizontal, with the trunk terminating below the level of the bottom of the pot. However, this is not precise, as a strong downward visual mass may be classified as cascade style, even if the terminal does not extend so far as the pot base. This elegant Bonsai Tree is in a 6.5"x6.5"x12.5"pot and sits on a 8.5"x8.5"x17" stand, has a 2.25" trunk, is 16" tall and sweeps down 19" . "Hitoigawa" Juniper Bonsai, certainly the most sought after Juniper in Japan unique in its soft cloud like foliage.I quote Shinji Suzuki in his interview in Bonsai Magazine "There is no variety like the JUNIPER "Hitoigawa" which can give such a good idea of the softness of the clouds.
